3rd Winter Contemporary Juried Art Exhibition

The Museum of Northern History invites artists to submit entries to the
3rd Winter Contemporary  Juried Art Exhibition.

THEME:  Northern Environment
EXHIBIT DATES:  January 8 - 31, 2010
ENTRY DEADLINE:  Saturday, November 14th, 2009
JURORS:  To Be Announced.

CATEGORIES OF ENTRY:

  • 2 dimensional work
  • 3 dimensional work
  • Performance - no longer than 10 minutes.
  • Video work -  no longer than 2 minutes.

ENTRY RULES:

   1. Artists may submit a maximum of one entry in each category. All work must be original, created by the entrant, no older than two years, and not previously shown at the Museum of Northern History.
   2. All 2 dimensional work must be wired and properly prepared for hanging.
      3 dimensional (sculptures) must be presented ready for displaying.
   3. The maximum finished dimension accepted will be:
      - 2 dimension - no bigger than 48 inches x 48 inches
      - 3 dimension - no bigger than 3' W x  6' H
   4. Shipping of work to and from the exhibit is the sole responsibility of the Artist.
   5. Entries that are accepted must be on display from January 8th to 31st, 2010.
   6. The exhibit is juried by digital images and video images.  Digital files on CD must be in jpeg format, about 1 MB size and can be readable on a PC.  For Sculpture entries please submit 2 images per artwork.
      - 2 dimensional work - digital file
      - 3 dimensional work - digital file
      - Performance work - video/DVD submission
      - Video work - video/DVD submission
   7. Each entry must be received at the Museum of Northern History by November 14th, and must include:
      - CD /Video/DVD with digital images of each submission.
      - Entry Form completed, signed and dated.
      - NOTE: do not submit original work
      - We will not be responsible for lost or damage in the mail of the material   submitted.
   8. The digital jurying will be the final selection for works accepted for the show.
   9. Successful entrants will be notified by phone or email.
  10. Accepted works must be received by the Museum of Northern History, 2 Chateau Drive, Kirkland Lake, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on January 5th or 6th, 2010.
  11. The Artist's name; the work's title and medium; price or value for insurance; and a contact number must be affixed to each artwork (the back of hanging pieces; an unobtrusive place on sculpture).  Unidentifiable work will not be included in the final exhibition..
  12. No artist's fees will be paid to the artists.
  13. Sales:  Should an Artist choose to have their work for sale, a 20% commission is deducted from the sale price.  The Artist must include this commission in the price they set and record that price on the entry form.
